Meaningful Measurement

9 04 2011

My most practical lesson this week was to develop the concept of a metre, square metre and cubic metre. Using straws, each student made a metre straw by pinching the end of one straw and pushing it into the next.

When they all had a metre they taped them together to form a square metre.

They then taped the square metres together to form a cubic metre.

This exercise helps to develop the size of a square metre and a cubic metre.
