Smarties and Probability

A fun way of showing the effect of small samples versus larger samples for probability is to give each student a spoonful of Smarties on a tissue or in a small plastic bag. If you record the numbers of each colour per student (on the board) and then combine the results, you can see the impact on the probability of the various colours using individual samples compared to the combined results of the class.
