Brilliant Reward for Budding Mathematicians

I had 100 of these pens engraved to reward insightful mathematical contributions to the lesson or a sustained noticeable change in classroom behavior.
My plan is to award one or two per class per week. The students only learn that I am doing this when I see aspects of deep thinking or sophisticated processing of a problem.
Interestingly, this week two students have commented on their struggle to be motivated to complete the set tasks, at home. In both cases I have given them a pen to take home and sit on their desk as a reminder that they can do what is expected and that I believe in them.
