Are You Co-Teaching or Just Taking Turns by Elizabeth Stein

This post emphasises the key components of a well executed lesson with 2 teachers working as a team to achieve the very best outcomes for every student in the classroom.

It requires each teacher being constantly focussed on the students and what the other teacher is doing/saying as well supporting/supplementing one another. It’s a matter of bouncing off one another to improve the quality of the teaching/learning in the classroom.

I have taught numerous classes with other teachers during my career. When the pair are on the same wavelength the students effectively have the value of three teachers from two. There’s the component of each teacher plus the added value of working together, which would not have happened without the pair working together. It’s such a buzz to experience when it happens.
